LEAP™ (Laser-enabled analysis and processing)
LEAP™
is an automated live cell imaging and processing system for in situ cell purification and/or laser-based transfection. LEAP™ combines high-speed imaging and multi-parameter visual characterization of cells with simultaneous laser-based cell manipulation. LEAP™ can image and process adherent and non-adherent cells using C-lect™ microplates. Capabilities of LEAP™ include:

  • imaging of cells using brightfield and fluorescence characteristics; and
  • laser-based manipulation to perform cell purification and/or optoinjection.
LEAP™. The LEAP™ system offers a truly unique and powerful means to combine live cell imaging and cell manipulation in an automated mode. Since LEAP™ exploits standard microplate formats, cell processing on LEAP™ and other automated procedures, such as cell culture and liquid handling, can be easily integrated.

Key LEAP™ advantages include:

  • laser-based delivery of a wide variety of certain molecules into cells;
  • iterative cell processing to help maxamize desired cell purity and efficiency;
  • laser-based manipulation of a wide variety of sample sizes;
  • processing of many cell types, including fragile and primary cells; and
  • safer processing of certain biohazardous cells.

HOP™

HOP™ – Bench-top Optoinjection. HOP™ (High-throughput Optoinjector) is a system in late-stage development that will offer bench-top optoinjection capabilities to researchers. The HOP™ device, which will be the size of a standard laser printer, is being designed to support 96-well and 384-well formats.

HOP™ is a small bench-top optoinjection system designed to enable the delivery of molecules into living cells for applications in functional genomics, functional proteomics and basic transfection. By delivering controlled laser energy (power, pulse and frequency) to cells in a prescribed manner, molecules can be efficiently optoinjected into cells.  HOP™ has the unique advantages of:

  • delivering a wide variety of certain biomolecules into cells;
  • enabling delivery into certain cell types that can be resistant to other approaches (e.g., certain T-cells, B-cells, neurons, etc.); and
  • empowering delivery designed to help minimize detrimental effects on viability and physiology.

C-lect™ microplates & kits

C-lect™ microplates are custom products optimized to ensure proper optical and laser compatibility with LEAP™ and HOP™ systems.

C-lect™ microplates. Cyntellect offers C-lect™ microplates that are optically matched for imaging and laser processing on LEAP™. Currently, C-lect™ plates are available in 96-well and 384-well formats, with additional formats in development.

C-lect™ applications kits are assay kits optimized and validated for specific scientific experimentation on LEAP™ and HOP™. Each kit comes complete with reagents, disposables, and protocols. Kits to be launched in 2006 are expected to include the following applications:

  • cell-secretion profiling and purification;
  • fluorescent marker-based cell purification;
  • optoinjection of nucleic acids; and
  • optoinjection of macromolecules.
C-lect™ Kits. Cyntellect offers kits optimized for performing defined applications on LEAP™. These kits include reagents, protocols and C-lect™ microplates, which are required for processing on LEAP™.
